Domain Name Registration

Domain name registration is the process through which a company,  in the United States,  Costa Rica or anywhere in the world, rents a name usually referred to as: URL (unique reference locator). This naming convention is organized by an organization named the ICANN. The ICANN is located in the US. The domain name is then linked via a DNS (domain name server) to an IP address. This IP address is the internet address of the physical server that contains the information for that site.Therefore, when somebody types in the domain name in a browser, the request first travels to a DNS and asks for the corresponding IP of the server. Once the IP address is returned, the request travels to the server and returns the "response" for the request. The Response has two parts: The head and the body.

The different files and folders are located in a hard drive in a server somewhere in the world with the assigned internet protocol address. This hard drive space is either owned by the company or rented in what is known as hosting service.
